Created a self-guided experience where new LinkedIn
Talent Hub customers could learn to implement the product
and onboard team members.

Over an hour of content was produced (17 videos), along with a custom microsite featuring an extensive resource
library. The animated videos created an open-ended hiring story, featuring an entire team of characters within a
fictitious company.

The storyboarding phase was a longer than normal process.

Having to storyboard out two 6+ minute videos is no easy task, but it was a collaborative effort. Our boards started
in a word document and advanced their way to an constantly updating internal deck, vector artwork in Illustrator and
production artwork in Sketch.

Visually we had to translate the
word document into something
that had a storyboard format.
With such a long video, it was
necessary to continue to keep
making updates.
Our original goal was to use all live
vector artwork to make updates.
But computing power would not
allow for this, so we had to switch
to PNG’s.

Now I have to make updates the old fashion way, export images!

From there I was able to take vector artwork from Illustrator and product PNG’s from Sketch to
combine the two in After Effects.

This process caused for a lot more versions to review!

Having some hurdles like using PNG’s instead of live artwork, constant updates to the product and product screens and most important pieces left out was having a working branch to use and test against. So I made the pivot and changed around the concept of building a template to just getting the two deliverables to a full piece.

The tough part of this process
was not having a working branch
of the product to use. So our
process was a little longer than
neeeded, which added more
revisions and reviews.
Since there were so many moving
parts with so many contributors,
we had to have different trackers
in place to make sure all work was
getting implemented and
changed. It was a very elaborate
process which ended up
occupying a lot of production
time.

What could have been done different?

Having a working branch of the product Talent Hub would have been helpful to the entire team.
We could have had a true source to check against the product with!

This approach helped explain the product in a simple, friendly way.

Coupled with the product designer, I led the animation on video 6 and 7 which gave the
LTH customers a seamless, one-stop experience.

In a word, WOW! This is one of the most comprehensive programs I’ve seen us launch.

This type of onboarding content was unprecedented!

It was the first of its kind for LinkedIn Talent Solutions. And the results were impressive, reducing
implementation wait time from 8 weeks to same day.
